Two
teams from our department presented the following papers, at
the IEEE International Advance Computing Conference (IACC'09),
held at Thapar University, Patiala, on 6th and 7th March'09.
The Conference saw participation 0f 950 delegates and 386
research students from over 17 countries.

IMA
Conference on Mathematics in Defence
Paper titled "Fast Generation of Multivariate Quadratic
Quasigroups for Cryptographic Applications" has been
selected by IMA Conference on Mathematics in Defence to be
held at Farnborough, UK on 19th November 2009.

Paper titled "From MQ to MQQ Cryptography: Weaknesses and

2nd Mile High
Conference on Non-Associative Mathematics
A
team from our department gets their efforts recognized at 2nd
Mile High Conference on Non-Associative Mathematics which
accepted their paper titled “On Quasigroups Suitable for
Securing Digital Information” held at University of
Denver, Denver, USA.

International
Conference On Security and Identity Management (SIM) - 2009
A
team from our department presented the paper on - "Web 2.0
Applications & Services - Impact on Corporate Security",
at International Conference On Security and Identity
Management (SIM) - 2009 Sponsored by Research Council of UK (RCUK),
held at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, on 11th and
12th of May 2009.

International Conference on Data Management (ICDM’09)
Another
team from our department presented a paper titled 'Design
of Lightweight Algorithms for Media Security' at the
International Conference on Data Management (ICDM'09),
organized by IMT Ghaziabad, held on 10th and 11th February'09.

Pre-ICM
International Convention on Mathematical Sciences
Another
team from our department presented a paper titled 'Design
of Strong Cryptographic Schemes based on Latin Squares' at
the Pre-ICM International Convention on Mathematical Sciences,
held at Delhi University, from 18th to 20th
December'08.
CODING COMPETITIONS:

1.
Sun Code for
Freedom Contest
A
team from our department bagged 3rd prize in the Sun Code for
Freedom Contest 2008-09, organized by Sun Microsystems. The
team designed a web application: "Crime Reporting System",
an online solution to enable citizens to register and keep up
to date on their complaints.

SUN
Microsystems’ REVIEW CONTEST
Two of
our teams participated in the GlassFish and MySQL Student
REVIEW CONTEST organized by Sun Microsystems. It asked
students to demonstrate their skills at developing
applications using this platform in this global competition.
Demonstrating adeptness with the technologies and a penchant
for innovation, both participants from our institute were
awarded 2nd position in their respective categories and prizes
worth $250 each.

Microsoft’s IMAGINE CUP
A team
from our department made it to the top-3 at Imagine Cup India
Nationals and also bagged a 14 days course at IIM-Ahmedabad.
Imagine Cup is a competition by Microsoft where students
create innovative solutions based on some theme. The panel of
judges in the nationals included Mr. Kiran Karnik (Past
President of NASSCOM), Prof. Samir Barua (Director of
IIM-Ahmedabad), and Dr. Gopichand Katragadda (GM - Operations,
GE Global Research Bangalore).
TECHNICAL FESTS OF OTHER
UNIVERSITIES
:
Teams
from the Department actively participated and won the Team
Trophy at the technical fests organized by Jamia Milia Islamia,
Jawahar Lal Nehru University, & Institute of Informatics &
Communication, University of Delhi. The technical fest
included many technical events like short term programming,
overnight programming, debugging, website development,
software/paper presentations, & algorithm design with a blend
of non-techies like quizzes, turn court, antakshari and dumb
charades. The team from our Department competed against teams
the reputed institutes like IIT Roorkee, JNU, JAMIA MILIA
ISLAMIA, JAMIA HUMDARD, IUST, USIT (GGSIPU), IIC (DU) and the
likes.

NERDZ @
JAMIA HUMDARD:
The
winning team grabbed including 5 - 1st prizes, 4 -
2nd prizes and 3 - 3rd prizes. The event
was organized on 7th - 8th November, 2008.

TECHNOPHILIA @ JNU:
The winning team grabbed a total of 8 prizes out of 14 events
including 2 - 1st prizes, 5 - 2nd prizes
and 1 - 3rd prize. Other teams from the Department
also won 4 - 1st prizes in several technical and
non technical events. The event was organized on 17th
- 18th
January, 2009.

ENVISAGE
@ IIC (DU):
The
winning team at Institute of Informatics and Communication (IIC),
University of Delhi grabbed a total of 9 prizes in all
including 6 - 1st prizes, 2 - 2nd prizes
and 1 - 3rd prize. Other teams from the Department
also won 5 - 1st prizes, 3 - 2nd prizes
and 1 - 3rd prize. The event was organized on 28th
February - 1st March, 2009.
Apart
from the above mentioned institutes, the members from DUCS
won:

Coding, Quiz, Extempore & Treasure Hunt at Maharaja Surajmal
Istitute, GGSIPU.

Short term programming event at Hindu College, University of
Delhi.

IT Quiz in Miranda House, University of Delhi.

LAN Gaming Event in Sri Ram College of Commerce, University of
Delhi.
