Under the esteemed leadership of Prof. Neelima Gupta, the Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The event brought together faculty members, staff, and students in a vibrant and meaningful celebration of India’s freedom and heritage. The celebrations began with a Tiranga Rally, where faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students participated with high spirits. Holding the national flag, the rally symbolized unity and respect for the nation. The rally commenced from the department premises and passed through the other departments, spreading the message of patriotism and harmony. As part of the cultural activities, a Rangoli Competition was organized among students, showcasing their creativity and national pride through colorful and intricate designs. Students beautifully depicted India’s cultural diversity and freedom struggle using vibrant colors. To engage students intellectually and encourage awareness about India’s history and democratic values, the department promoted student participation in the Independence Day Quiz hosted on the MyGov platform. Several students actively took part and received certificates of participation, demonstrating their knowledge and enthusiasm for national affairs. The celebration concluded with a short address by Prof. Neelima Gupta, who emphasized the role of young minds in building a progressive and inclusive India. She commended the department’s collective efforts in organizing the event and encouraged students to carry forward the spirit of independence in their academic and personal pursuits. The day was a memorable tribute to the nation and a reaffirmation of our commitment to its ideals.
