Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at the University of Delhi. Our department is a hub of innovation, rigorous academic training, and holistic student development.

A Legacy of Excellence

Our department is home to three prestigious degree programs: a two-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA), a two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. The University of Delhi is a pioneering institution in India and was among the first to offer Master's degrees in both Computer Applications (MCA) and Computer Science (M.Sc.).

Tailored Academic Pathways

We offer two distinct Master's pathways with unique objectives. The MCA program is industry-oriented, designed to equip students with practical software development skills, while the M.Sc. program is geared towards research, fostering the critical thinking necessary for high-quality scholarly work. To maintain relevance and rigor, both curricula are periodically revised to incorporate state-of-the-art technologies and align with the latest demands of industry and research.

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), our curriculum empowers students to design their own academic journeys. By strategically selecting electives, students can specialize in high-demand areas, including:

This theoretical foundation is reinforced with extensive hands-on experience, which students gain through a progression of classroom activities, minor projects, and a culminating major project.

A strong sense of community is fostered through a rich calendar of events, including welcome parties for freshers, farewell ceremonies, festival celebrations like Diwali and Holi, an annual Sports Day, and educational excursions.

On the technical and professional front, the department hosts

Sankalan, its flagship annual tech fest, and organizes regular industry visits for real-world exposure. Students are also actively encouraged to hone their skills by participating in external hackathons and competitions.
