Sharma Chakravarthy

Sharma Chakravarthy joined the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington in Spring 2000 as a Full Professor. His interests include information integration, sensor/stream data processing, Information retrieval/classification, Data warehousing, Data mining – transactional, text, and graph, and advanced uses of active capability. Dr. Chakravarthy has transitioned some of the results of the Sentinel and other projects into real-life applications (through BBN, Raytheon TI Systems, and Spawar).

Dharanipragada Janakiram

Dharanipragada Janakiram obtained his Ph.D degree from IIT, Delhi. He is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, India, where he heads and coordinates the research activities of the Distributed and Object Systems Lab. His current research focus is on building large scale distributed systems focusing on design pattern based techniques, measurements, peer-peer middleware based grid systems etc.

Gautam Shroff

Dr. Shroff heads TCS‟ Innovation Lab in Delhi that conducts applied research in a variety of areas including information fusion, web intelligence, business analytics, text mining, computer vision. Prior to joining TCS in 1998, Dr. Shroff had been on the faculty of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA and thereafter of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. In 1994 he was conferred the „Young Scientist Award‟ from the Department of Atomic Energy. Dr. Shroff graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, in 1985 and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, USA, in 1990.

Sayan Pathak

Sayan Pathak received Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 1994 and Master of Science and PhD degrees in Bioengineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1996 and 2000 respectively. He joined Microsoft as a senior developer and currently is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd in Bangalore, working on algorithm R&D in the online advertising space. Sayan has been working on cutting edge technology in Microsoft products in collaboration with Microsoft Research Labs across the world with emphasis on Machine Learning technologies.

Perraju Bendapudi

Perraju Bendapudi has been with Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd for the past 12 years. He is currently the Partner Architect of the Analytics Team. Perraju started his career in Microsoft as a Senior Developer in Microsoft Operations Manager Reporting. Subsequently, he became the Developer Lead to Service for Unix. He has also been the Development Manager for the Windows group at Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd. As the Principle Architect, he worked on the verification platform and binary based static driver verifier. As a Partner Development Director Perraju for the last four years worked on server and high scale services of Live Mesh and Azure Caching and Integration Services.

Rakesh Agrawal

Dr. Rakesh Agrawal is a Microsoft Technical Fellow, heading the Search Labs in Microsoft Research in Silicon Valley. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of ACM, and a Fellow of IEEE. He is the recipient of the ACM-SIGKDD First Innovation Award, ACM-SIGMOD Innovations Award, IIT-Roorkee Distinguished Alumni Award, ACM-SIGMOD Test of Time Award, VLDB 10-Yr Most Influential Paper Award, and ICDE Most Influential Paper Award. Scientific American named him to the list of 50 top scientists and technologists in 2003. Dr. Agrawal has been granted more than 70 patents and has published more than 175 research papers. Before Microsoft, he worked as an IBM Fellow at IBM Almaden and at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill. He received his Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Maya Ramanath is an assistant professor at IIT-Delhi. Her interests are in the area of database and information retrieval techniques for semantic web data management. She received her masters and PhD from IISc, Bangalore and previously worked as a researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Informatics in Germany.
